I designed separate looks for each of the spaces throughout the apartment and then keyframed various elements to turn off and on gradually between each movement so the color change would feel seamless. It was important to maintain an overall consistency throughout, but at the same time to separate each room for the desired effect. I also bent some of the hues from the moonlight in the bedroom to the cooler feel of the bathroom. I try to isolate different elements to bring focus to the vehicle and make sure it looks the very best I can make it. A lot of the time, I'm relighting the vehicle's surface and making sure emblems and the grill stand out. I like to darken the windshield to take the focus off the driver and give a cleaner presentation. It's also essential to make the most of the background. In some, that means balancing out and creating depth in the cityscape beyond. In others, it's about getting as much latitude out of the sky as possible. Sometimes it's also helpful to create some haze in the background to pull attention forward. With stronger contrast, it's important to find a balance so the shot doesn't get too busy. Intensity everywhere in the frame can look kind of cool at first but with industrial equipment in the background and foreground, it's harder on the eyes. I used power windows to isolate the dirt road in many clips to reduce contrast and lighten it so the vehicle would stand out better. I also exhibit some of the ways I sculpt the lighting to enhance contours and shadows so the shape and details of the Jeep are more pronounced and clear. I even used some small precise selections to keep the vehicle brand logos crisply defined. Ultimately, my job as a colorist is to enhance the purpose of each shot in a project. I work hard to meet the needs of my clients and deliver quality results they're excited about.
